Silver Horn

-Night after night for years, you have had the same dream. In it, you find yourself racing through an old forest, a place of green and gold filled with light, chimes, and falling flower petals—you can feel the magic of the place. The dream starts joyfully, but the darkness always encroaches:- a terrible threat to this place you know as your home. As the enemy draws near, stamping its feet and blowing fire from its nostrils, you feel the fear take hold and you awaken.

You’ve consulted soothsayers, fortune tellers, religious folk, and others, but you never got a satisfactory explanation. You believed you were cursed.

But then everything changed. You have started to remember. These are no dreams; your sleeping self has been remembering your past. At some point, long ago, you were something else, something noble and pure. You’ve become convinced that you once were a unicorn, but something happened to change you into the person you are today.

What could have happened to alter your life so completely? Who is this dreadful enemy? Did a powerful fey transform you? Did you change yourself to escape some danger? Perhaps you fell in love with a mortal or just wanted to see the lands beyond your home? Whatever the reason, your time in this form has come to an end. All you do now serves one purpose: to become what you were born to be. Somewhere out there are answers. You will stop at nothing to find them—and to regain what you lost.

Level 7 Silver Horn

Attributes: Increase three attributes by 1 each

Health: +12

Traditions: One

Spells: One expert

Languages: Any one

Protection from Magic: You impose 1 bane on rolls against you from magical effects, and you roll to resist or end magical effects with 1 boon. If you already have this trait or talent from a permanent source, such as from another path or from your ancestry, you instead gain one talent from a tradition you have discovered.

Level 8 Silver Horn

Health: +12

Bonus Damage: +1d6, Speed: +1

Spells: One Expert

Impaling Charge: You can use an action to move up to your Speed and make an attack. The attack deals an extra 2d6 damage, or 4d6 damage if you attack with a spear, lance, or similar weapon. You then lose access to this talent (luck ends).

Unicorn’s Passage (Magical): You can expend 1 yard of movement to teleport to an empty space within 4 yards. You then lose access to this talent (luck ends).

Level 10 Silver Horn

Health: +12

Bonus Damage: +1d6

Spells: One master

Unicorn Form (Magical): At the start of your turn, if you lack the confused, controlled, stunned, or unconscious afflictions, you can immediately transform yourself and everything you wear and carry into the form of a unicorn. You can remain in that form until you use an action to return to your normal body. Until the effect ends, apply the following changes to your rules:

  • Your Defense becomes 18 (if less than 18).
  • Your Size becomes 2.
  • Your Speed becomes 8 (Teleport 4).
  • You lose the ability to speak languages.
  • You gain the Keen Hearing, Keen Scent, and Keen Vision traits.
  • Melee Attack—Horn Piercing: Strength or Agility with 3 boons (6d6)
  • Melee Attack—Hooves: Strength or Agility with 1 boon (2d6)
  • Two Attacks: You can use an action to make one Horn attack and one Hooves attack.
